Mediation

Mediation is the process in which a trained mediator assists parties in conflict to reach a negotiated settlement. The mediator uses a variety of techniques and skills to encourage the parties to reach an acceptable solution. Courts generally require mediation prior to trial. However, even though mediation usually occurs in the context of a pending law suit, the parties are not constrained to reaching a settlement based on the law or legal remedies. For this reason, often the outcome of mediation is a solution much better than what a court can offer.

Andy Lewis has successfully mediated hundreds of cases in a variety of settings for nearly two decades. Andy mediates disputes privately in the office of Lewis & Lewis, Attorneys at Law, PLLC in Clear Lake. Andy also currently serves as a mediator at the Dispute Resolution Center of Harris County. Andy previously was a certified mediation trainer with the Georgia Supreme Court’s Office of Dispute Resolution, where he also served as Deputy Director. He is also one of the few mediators in the Houston Area who is also board certified in estate planning and probate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Andy is highly skilled in dispute resolution, having been trained in general mediation, domestic mediation, criminal mediation, domestic violence mediation, and arbitration. Andy earned his B.A. from Rice University, his J.D. with honors from Tulane University, and his M.B.A. from Emory University.
